This is my third Toyota Truck. My first was a white 2005 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Pre-Runner. It was my first experience having a truck and I loved it, and had it been 4WD I would probably have had it a lot longer. My second truck was a slate gray 2007 Toyota Tundra Double Cab XSP 4WD. This was a great truck but unfortunately I wrecked it early on doing about $16,000 in damage. Luckily, it was a lease or I probably would have never gotten rid of it. As it got closer and closer to the turn in date I could tell I needed to part ways with this truck ASAP. It would have probably been a nightmare to own after the warranty ran out. Sorry to whomever ended up with it!
This leads me to the 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser. I had decided that I would go back to a Tacoma Double Cab after the Tundra (since apparently they were making them out of gold now) and went down to Sparks Toyota in Myrtle Beach to see what kind of deals could be done since one couldn't made in Wilmington. While I was there looking at the Tacoma’s I noticed they had one FJ Cruiser on the lot. I told the salesman that I had always wanted to drive one and I'd like to rule it out. The one on the lot was pretty much a base model with a 6 speed transmission. I'm thinking it might have even been 2WD. When I drove it I instantly fell in love! It even crossed my mind to get a 6 speed because I thought that was part of the reason I liked it so much but my practical side jumped in.
I picked out the options I wanted and luckily they had one coming in the ports that had those options plus two more options I'm glad I ended up with. They threw the two extra options in since this truck was already headed into the port. The drop hitch was one of those options and I’m so glad I got it. I’ve already used it numerous times in the almost eight months I’ve owed the FJ. The other option that was added was the bumper driving lights. These I haven’t used a whole lot but I definitely think they add to the appearance.
